Hybrid Joining by Induction Heating of Basalt Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Laminates
نویسندگان
چکیده
Induction heating was used to join basalt fiber reinforced polymer laminates (BFRPL) using the process called inductive contact joining (ICJ). Two other mechanical processes, nut and bolt (NB) two-piece hollow riveting (2PR), were compared ICJ. The obtained joints evaluated tensile shear tests by analyzing fractured surfaces. Furthermore, simulation of ICJ estimate effective parameters. Joints produced had superior joint strength manufactured 2PR. In addition, during ICJ, BFRPL fibers not damaged base material maintained. forces exceeded 3.5 kN 2.5 for a joined, sandblasted aluminum sheet with itself, respectively. Further optimization potential discovered investigation, so that potentially higher strengths shorter processing times can be expected, making interesting future industrial applications.

Accelerated Heat Aging Study of Phenolic/Basalt Fiber Reinforced Composites
One of the greatest impediments to use polymer-matrix composites is their susceptibility to degradation when exposed to the elevated temperatures and the limited knowledge on the thermal and mechanical properties of these composites at such temperatures. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of accelerated heat aging on the tensile properties of the Woven Basalt/Phenolic (WBP) ...

Biocomposites have attracted a great deal of interest in research and industry sectors because they are typically lightweight, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and their thermomechanical properties can be designed to fit specific applications by tuning of their composition. In this study, mechanical properties of natural-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite films were explored. Thermo...
متن کاملOverview of Flax Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites
Flax fibres are oftenly used for reinforcing thermoplastic to manufacture biocomposite materials exhibiting numerous advantages such as high mechanical properties, low density and biodegradability. The mechanical properties of a biocomposite material depends on the nature and orientation of the fibres, the nature of the matrix and mainly on the adhesion between fiber and the polymer matrix. The...

The creep behavior of basalt fiber reinforced epoxy (BFRE) and glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE) composites was studied through tensile testing at high temperature. To study the effect of reinforcing epoxy, the micro glass powder (MGP) was added at various volume percentage into the epoxy resin in BFRE composites. The initial strain for all the specimens were evaluated and compared with each ...
متن کاملBasalt fiber–epoxy laminates with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes
Cross-ply laminates reinforced with basalt fibers and functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were fabricated from unidirectional epoxy prepregs. MWCNTs with varied surface conditions were prepared by oxidization or esterification, and then dispersed into a DGEBA epoxy system. The dispersion of the MWCNTs in the epoxy was improved by surface modification, resulting in improved com...
